SCOTT STAPP OF CREED AND WIND-UP RECORDS ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF LIMITED EDITION "WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN" SINGLE; PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE "WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN" FOUNDATION

September 19, 2000 (ORLANDO) -- Scott Stapp of Creed, and Wind-Up Records, have announced the September 26th release of a special, limited edition and enhanced package containing three versions of the hit "With Arms Wide Open," and the composition's accompanying video. The compact disc will contain the string version that appears in the "With Arms Wide Open" video, a no-strings rock version, and an acoustic performance of the song. The latter two recordings are currently not available commercially. This release will officially launch Stapp's "With Arms Wide Open" Foundation. The Foundation's mission, "Help for children, hope for families", has been set forth to promote healthy, loving relationships between children and their families and was initially funded with a personal donation of $25,000 from Stapp. Creed, Wind-Up and the Foundation hope to raise $400-500k before the end of the year. "I've always wanted to start an organization to help support families and children. With the success of Creed, I am finally in a position to do so on a national level and I'm excited by the prospect of being able to give something back to the communities that have been so supportive of us," says Stapp. Wind-Up Records will limit the release of this offering to 65,000 copies nationwide, with $3.00 from the sale of each compact disc going directly to the Foundation. The proceeds from this initial effort will meet the goal of raising $200,000 to finance the start-up of the "With Arms Wide Open" Foundation.

Creed will appear on an episode of VH1's "Storytellers." The Doors will join Creed for the taping at Center Stage in Hollywood, CA. The show will air sometime this year.

Before the 2nd leg of the US tour starts, Scott Stapp will stop off in Vancouver, Canada to film an episode of a new VH1 show called "Big Sound." The series is about a music management company of the industry's top artists and has been called "The Larry Sanders Show for the music business."

Recently, the RIAA presented Creed with plaques commemorating combined sales of over 10 million copies of both "Human Clay" and their debut release "My Own Prison" prior to their performance at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Brian Marshall left Creed!!!

Released by Creed's management:

Creed and founding member Brian Marshall have decided to part ways on friendly terms, citing personal and professional differences. Marshall and Creed are discussing terms for his involvement in the future releases of previously recorded but unreleased material. Creed and Marshall will both continue to be represented by Orlando's Jeff Hanson Management & Promotions. Marshall plans to seek other interests and opportunities. Although Creed will not seek a permanent replacement for Brian, they have enlisted the services of Brett Hestla as their new touring bass player. Hestla, who is also the lead singer for Atlantic Records artist Virgos, will tour with Creed this fall. Creed's scheduled tour dates will remain unchanged. The band and its new lineup will embark on a 45-date fall tour that starts this Thursday in Chicago.

Creed wishes to thank Brian for his participation in their success and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.

Mark Tremonti is in the latest issue of Guitar One magazine. He was voted by the magazine as one of the All Stars of 2000. He won Best Riff Architect. Underneath his picture it says "Need proof? How about five riff driven #1 singles and counting- from Creed's first two records. One of only a handful of modern-day "guitar heroes." Tremonti avoids the seven string craze and ultra-low tunings of modern metal guitar in preference for his distinctive compositional skills."
